Another person's talent does not diminish your own

Another person's talent does not diminish your own

"Iron is sharpened by iron;
one person sharpens another." Psalm 27:17

Iron sharpens iron. Man sharpens man. We learn from and grow from one another.

WE tend to get so worked up about being the best.

Each of us has certain talents and abilities. Some things in life, we accomplish well, and other things we genuinely need help with. See, if I'm horrible at doing something, it makes perfect sense for me to ask someone else for advice on how to accomplish that task. Why though, is it so difficult to ask for help doing something I'm "good" at?

Don't let Lent take you by surprise

Don't let Lent take you by surprise

WE are exactly three weeks away from the season of Lent.

Let that sink in.

We are three weeks away from a time of purging, a time of stripping away what is burdening us, a time of reliance on our Lord through the desert; a time of patient hope for a bright Easter season.

Too many times I feel like Lent sneaks up on me. Suddenly, it's Mardi Gras, the next day, I wind up with Ashes on my forehead, and the next 40 days are a whirlwind of wishing I had planned my own sacrifice better. Don't get me wrong, Lent is always fruitful, but I can't help wondering if I'm doing it wrong.

This year is different.
